CEO and Founder Rachel Serwetz, an ICF-certified coach, has experienced firsthand the lack of effective support for career path exploration and job search at several points of her professional journey. After spending a lifetime watching loved ones work jobs well below their potential, and after six years of searching for clarity, Rachel crystalized that her passion was helping others find theirs.
On her own, she learned everything about how to land a great job, leading her to secure a role at Goldman Sachs. Over the next few years, she was referred to hundreds of young adults who needed career support, saw patterns in the issues they faced, and came up with a unique process. Working in HR at Bridgewater Associates and as a Career Coach at WeWork, Flatiron School, Project Activate, & Columbia University, these experiences further validated that the frameworks and processes she had developed were unique and powerful to lead professionals to make intentional career decisions.
WOKEN was founded out of sheer empathy to help people discover a fitting career direction, after having her fair share of ineffective support while exploring careers and job searching. I felt stuck and helpless, knowing that I wanted to leave my current role and work environment but not knowing the concrete steps to get that process started. Now, I feel confident that I can make changes in my career as I see fit. The main benefits of the platform for me was accountability, concrete steps from my coach, and breaking down the goals into smaller steps by only unlocking steps in the platform after the previous one had been created.
